Board of Studies stuff

Last year there were a few changes made to the format of the HSC exams for both Latin Continuers and Extension, which are to come into effect this year. The Board of Studies has (finally) published some sample papers indicating how the changes might look, which you can find here (continuers) and here (extension).

A summary of the changes to each paper is also available from the BOS website (cont., ext.).

Some may feel squeamish about eating it, but rabbit has a fan base that grows as cooks discover how easy they are to raise — and how good the meat tastes.

Had a look at them the other day - I'll be emailing the links to my guys within the next few days.

Words cannot describe how stupid and pointless the questions attached to the Continuers unseens are. If the kids have translated the unseen correctly then the answers to almost all of those questions have already been inherently provided!

The Board proving once more what a bunch of birdbrains they are.

you are right, of course. i had a bit to do with putting the paper together, and was quite surprised when i saw the unseen questions. someone somewhere has changed what we suggested. i would be interested to know who.

i won't even mention that the specimen paper was published so late that i had already written my half-yearly exam, despite the initial work being done in June last year. i think every latin student should apply for misadvneture this year on the basis of the Board's incompetence.

Couldn't agree more.
