Re the last link (which doesn't have comments, so I'll put mine here), I assume that Homer wasn't included on the list because it is a list of novels rather than poetry. Otherwise, how else could you explain the absence of Milton's Paradise Lost? I assume such issues are covered in the introduction to the volume.

This guy makes a similar point (ie that it's a list of novels)- but he's still not very happy about it.
